Slawson Racing began years ago in the 1920's when Bill "Cannonball" Slawson began to race the "Roaring Roadsters" in Southern California.  He ran this operation out of his shop in Long Beach before moving to Northwest Iowa.  Upon arriving he went to work founding the Iowa Racing Association.  He was also an integral part of moving the track operation in Mildford, IA to Jackson, MN, in order to create Jackson Speedway.  He was very involved helping promote Jackson Speedway for many years.  The next generation came along in the late 1970's and early 1980's when Bill's son Rich started racing late models at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, IA.  He had much success before deciding to hang up the helmet in 1982.  The most recent generation started in 2000 with Rich's son James behind the wheel.  As soon as James turned 16, it was time to go racing and the team has been at it ever since.  They started out in the hobby stock division and raced there for 3 years until moving up into a B-Modified in 2003.  At the end of the 2003 race season, the team decided it was time to move up the ranks even farther into the A-Modified division.  This season will be the teams third season in an A-Modified, and seventh overall season of racing.
